In my English class, read an article about food wasting. A lot of ideas hit my mind, and I decided to write a blog to show my perspective about that phenomenon.
First, I believe that wasting is wrong, either in food or other areas. Food is grown by farmers who work hard every day. A dish of salad made from gallons of water, large amount of water and great time lags. Simply during unwanted food into the tanks is not only a waste of money, but also a waste of limited resources. When the economy steps into recession, people will regret for the resources they wasted in the past.
Second, consumers should improve their awareness of the termination of their wasted food. Food is simply carbon , hydrogen and oxygen, with some kind of other elements like iron. They would either decompose into greenhouse gases like methane, or be consumed by bacterias and converted into carbon dioxide. Both consequences can lead to global warming. A worse situation is that bakeries can lead to spread of diseases and reduced amount of oxygen dissolved in water. Humans will be infected and fish will be anoxic.
I believe that the most basic reason for people wasting food is lack of thinking macro economically. We are all individuals who do not care about pollution we produced since that was so little. However, as they propagate, they will lead to significant damage. Slight negligence may lead to great disaster. Therefore my understanding is that households should be more reflective and caring. Reflect on how much we have wasted and do something to show that we care about the health of ourselves and the Earth. Make a plan and calculate the right amount of food your family actually demand. I believe that it can significantly reduce the amount of food waste. You will also have more disposable income.
